FAQ

  • Advance registration is highly recommended—especially for our Friday through Sunday Everyday Practices, which tend to fill up fast (even more so in the summer months!). Signing up ahead of time ensures you’ve got a spot and gives you a chance to complete your profile and waiver online.

That said, walk-ins are welcome when space allows! Just be sure to arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can get you checked in and settled before class begins.

  • We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early so you have plenty of time to get checked in, find your spot, and ease into the space before practice begins.

We’re a small team, so you might occasionally find a note on the studio door if a class is still in session. In that case, feel free to wait in the lobby—we’ll welcome you in as soon as the space is ready!

If you're running late, we ask that you only come up if it's within the first 10 minutes of class. If for any reason the studio door is locked after start time, please email us at care@villageyoga.co and we’ll be happy to help you reschedule.

  • Wear comfortable, clean clothes that you feel good moving in and don’t mind the possibility of sweating in. No “official yoga clothes” required.

Layers are awesome, especially to have a sweater / socks to slip on during our final rest pose at the end of most classes.

You’ll take off your shoes on the 2nd floor at checkin and leave them in our guest storage area. Our 3rd floor studio space is shoe-free - thank you for keeping it that way. Bare feet are awesome for getting good traction during class on your mat. But you’re welcome to wear socks. Socks & indoor-only slippers especially during colder months are just fine to wear upstairs.

  • Just bring yourself and a water bottle—though we also offer complimentary water, tea, and other refreshments (coffee available for purchase) upstairs in our cozy second-floor lounge.

You’re welcome to bring your own yoga mat, but many of our practitioners use our studio mats and props—always available, and free of charge.

We provide everything you might need: mats, blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters, and eye pillows. We just ask that you kindly wipe down any props and mats after use.

And if you fall in love with something during class, we sell a curated selection of high-quality yoga props and more upstairs in our lounge and retail space.

  • We do have a shower on the 2nd floor that is currently reserved for private clients and special events.

We’re logistically seeing if this is something we can also make them available as a perk for our unlimited monthly members. Stay tuned!

  • Give yourself the space and grace to arrive in an easeful way.

We kindly ask you to reserve your class ahead of time. To secure your spot, please arrive 5-10 minutes before class to get settled and signed in. If you’re not physically present at class start time, your reserved spot may be given to someone on the in-studio waitlist.

We kindly ask for your understanding as we work to make class accessible to everyone who reserves and arrives on time.

Give yourself the space and grace to arrive with ease—it’s such a beautiful way to honor your practice and create room for your fellow Villagers. Thank you SO much for BEing here.

  • Life happens—we get it. But we kindly ask that whenever possible, you cancel your class at least 24 hours in advance. This helps us open up spots for others in our community, especially since many of our classes (especially on weekends) have waitlists. Giving another Village Yogi the chance to move their body and reset their mind is a big deal, and we appreciate you helping us make that possible.

Class Pack Holders: If you late cancel (within 24 hours of class), your class will still be deducted from your pack.

Village Well Members: Late cancels won’t incur extra charges at this time, but we do track patterns and may follow up if it becomes a habit. We’re all about supporting your routine—and your fellow yogis!

Need help canceling a class? Reach out to us anytime at care@villageyoga.co.

  • We totally understand that sometimes life gets in the way—but arriving a little early helps everyone settle in and get the most out of their practice.

We recommend showing up 5–10 minutes before class starts so you have time to check in, roll out your mat, and breathe before we begin.

If you do arrive late, we ask that you only enter within 10 minutes of class start time to minimize disruption.

If you miss class altogether, it will count as a Late Cancel (see our cancellation policy for more details). That said, we’re human too. If something unexpected came up, feel free to email us at care@villageyoga.co within an hour of class—we’re happy to offer a Late Cancel grace once per quarter.

Thanks for helping us keep things smooth and spacious for everyone in the studio.

  • We suggest signing up for your favorite classes as much in advance as possible, since we have limited spaces available in each of our in-person classes. Our most popular classes & time slots tend to fill up.

We do offer a waitlist for each of our in-person classes at our Kinderhook studio. Plus, we reserve a spot or two in each class for walk-ins. If you’re on a waitlist or walking in, we suggest you arrive 15 minutes before class. We’ll start opening up the waitlist 5 minutes before class begins, as available.

  • SOON! We’ll be opening up our virtual, hybrid, and on-demand offerings in the future. Stay tuned & be the first to know by joining the waitlist.

  • We’re at 6 Hudson Street, Kinderhook, NY 12106 — on the second and third floors. We’re the golden door. Street parking is available.

  • Plan for your first visit —

We’re located at 6 Hudson Street in Kinderhook, NY on the second and third floors. You’ll know it’s us by our golden door (check out the video above to see right where you’ll walk in).
For more info please visit our Welcome page!

Plan on arriving 15-5 minutes before your class so you can settle in.

You’ll check in on the second floor, where you’ll leave your shoes and anything else you brought with you (we recommend leaving your valuables at home!). You can then head upstairs to the third floor practice room in bare feet or socks.

We recommend wearing comfortable, clean clothes that you can move in and feel good in. Layers are always good too — so you can make sure you’re cool enough during the movement part of the practice and warm enough while you rest.

You can bring your own mat or borrow one of ours — it’s always on the house.

We also have complimentary blocks, blankets, bolsters, eye pillows, and straps you can use during class. (We also have them for sale and are happy to help you create the perfect home practice set up!).

There are bathrooms on each floor. You’re welcome to use them before, during, or after class. For now, we’ll only extend use of our showers to private clients. (We may open them up more generally on weekdays, but we have to see the “flow” of our opening weeks first!).

Bring a water bottle and you can refill it in our kitchen. We have extra cups on hand if you forget. We’ll work our way up to some “spa water” and tea, so stay tuned.

Let us know anything about your practice, your body, yourself before class begins. (or during class if something comes up or changes, all good). Everything we say is just a suggestion. Take care of yourself. If something doesn’t work for you, you can do something different. You are in charge and you are your own best teacher.

We offer hands-on assists and adjustments in class, with your consent. For the time-being, we’ll do that verbally - so let’s just be in communication. You are welcome to receive or refuse them and always change your mind. We want you to feel safe and comfortable in this space. You are so welcome here.

If you have other questions and don’t see an answer here — please email us at hello@villageyoga.co.

We can’t wait to practice with you soon! So much more to come & just enough to get started now.

    — Cath & Sam

  • Our regularly scheduled classes are designed with adults in mind, but we welcome younger students on a case-by-case basis. If you feel your child or teen is mature enough to participate respectfully in a group class setting, we’re open to it!

We also offer special kids and teens programming from time to time.
If you're interested in having a younger student join a class, please email us at care@villageyoga.co and we’ll be happy to chat further.

  • We usually do! Our go-to is the beloved BMat—a favorite among our teachers and students alike for its grip, durability, and support. Currently, we’re out of stock as the company has been on a production hiatus, but the good news is: they’re expected to return in mid-2025!

We’re in contact with our BMat rep and plan to have them back in our studio shop as soon as they’re available again. In the meantime, we have props available to borrow for class, always free of charge.
